Adult Sunday School

Adult Sunday School

We are pleased to offer a variety of Sunday School classes for adults each Sunday morning at 9:30 AM. We believe that Sunday School is a great place to experience the power of being part of a supportive Christian community - a place where we can come together to study the Bible, explore theological questions, and grow in our Christian faith. We hope you'll find a class that matches your interests and spiritual needs.  For further information about our adult Sunday School classes, please contact our coordinator of Adult Education, Evelyn Glass

Sunday Morning Classes

Seekers

The Seekers Class meets for study and discussion in the Prayer Room.  This class uses a variety of different curriculum to bring biblical teachings to daily life application.  Their current study is Strong Was Her Faith - Women of the New Testament by  J. Ellsworth Kalas

Coffee, News, and Views
The Coffee, News and Views Class meets in the Fellowship Hall for a lively discussion of current events and items of interest published in various periodicals including the Dallas Morning News, Sojourner Magazine, and Christianity Today

Agape

The Agape Class meets in the Agape Room to study weekly lessons from Seasons of the Spirit - Bible readings based on the Revised Common Lectionary.

Living the Questions 2.0
TUMC plans to offer the 21-session study over 2 summers -- 2009 and 2010—during Adult Saturday and Sunday School

The format of each session includes a video, guided discussion, spiritual exercises and Bible study. The 20-minute videos for each session include conversation, sermon clips, lecture excerpts, and spiritual exercises for practical applications (including different forms of prayer and meditation, movement, walking the labyrinth, etc).  Since the overall theme is that of faith as a journey, not a destination, resources for continued exploration, including downloadable expanded study guides, extra video resources, and Internet links will be offered.

LtQ2 provides a much needed safe environment where people have permission to ask the questions they've always wanted to ask but have been afraid to voice for fear of being thought a heretic. Living the Questions will help seekers and "church alumni/ae" alike in discovering the significance of Christianity in the 21st Century and what a meaningful faith can look like in today's world.
